Fire Academy

The Oak Hill Fire Academy has released new details regarding the next scheduled fire academy class.

Applications we begin being accepted on October 2, 2017 and can ban be downloaded HERE.
Once the Fire Academy has reached capacity, the remaining applicants will placed on a waiting list in the event someone withdraws from the Academy.

The Academy offered by the Oak Hill Fire Department / TCESD#3 provides a full Texas Commission on Fire Protection accredited course for men and women and offers classes conveniently scheduled on evenings and Saturdays. The Fire Academy will provide you with the instruction and knowledge to be able to obtain your Basic Structural Firefighter Certification, Courage to be Safe program, Wildland S130/190 and L180, as well as the IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 courses. This Academy is conducted in a classroom and hands-on environment, ensuring you are familiar with the knowledge and skills to be ready for the state examination and to be very proficient in your future as a Firefighter. You will have the opportunity to be successful as a firefighter under our training program. Our program also provides an intensive physical training aspect to ensure you are well prepared for the firefighting profession.

The fire academy class is 37 weeks long and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 17:30 to 22:00 and on Saturdays, generally from 08:00 to 17:00. The cost of the course is $4,050.00 and includes a gear rental fee for NFPA certified live fire personal protective equipment. Tuition costs also include the use of a uniform shirt, physical training clothes, all required books, facility fees, water bottle, safety glasses, and hearing protection. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is required at the time of application submittal which will be applied to the total cost of the academy.
