The Oak Hill Fire Academy has released new details regarding the next scheduled fire academy class.
If you are interested in attending the next Fire Academy, please click HERE to see more details about preparing for the class. The next class will tentatively start on January 29, 2022 at 9:00 am. Applications will begin being accepted on July 6, 2021 and can be downloaded HERE.
Once the Fire Academy has reached capacity, the remaining applicants will be placed on a waiting list in the event someone withdraws from the Academy.
The Academy offered by the Oak Hill Fire Department / TCESD#3 provides a full Texas Commission on Fire Protection accredited course for working men and women through offering classes conveniently on evenings and weekends. The Fire Academy will provide you with the instruction and knowledge to be able to obtain your Basic Structural Firefighter Certification, Courage to be Safe program, S130/190, L180, Swift Water Rescue, Traffic Highway Safety Course, and IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 courses. This Academy is conducted in a classroom and hands-on environment to ensure you are familiar with the knowledge and skills to be ready for the state examination and to be very fit and proficient in your future as a Firefighter.
The fire academy class is 37 weeks long and is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm and on Saturdays generally from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be a few Sunday classes as well, also generally conducted from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The cost of the course is $4,150.00 and includes the use of a uniform shirt, physical training clothes, all required books, facility fees, a water bottle, eye protection (safety glasses), hearing protection (ear plugs), webbing, and the use of NFPA certified live fire bunker gear.
A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is required at the time of application submittal which will be applied to the total cost of the academy. Payments can be made via check, money order, or in person via cash or most credit cards.
