Founded in April 1968, the Oak Hill Fire Department is currently the fire protection and emergency medical response organization for Travis County Emergency Services District #3. Travis County includes Austin, the capital city of Texas.

The Oak Hill Fire Department serves a forty-one square mile area bounded on the north and west by Barton Creek, on the south by Hays County. The area of the 'Y' at the junction of Hwy 71 and Hwy 290 is served by Austin Fire Department. Advanced Life Support, medical transport services, and STARflight helicopter transport services are provided by Austin - Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

The Oak Hill Fire Department maintains two stations staffed 24/7 by a minimum of four full-time staff who are State-Commissioned Firefighters and who also hold at least Emergency Medical Technician - Basic certification.

Station 301 operates an Engine and a Brush Truck, used for fighting wildland fires. Also in Station 301 is the tanker, useful for areas with insufficient hydrants or inadequate water pressure. Station 302 operates a Quint ladder truck, and a Brush Truck. Also in Station 302 is the Rescue truck, with specialized equipment for technical rescue and extrications.

In addition, the Oak Hill Fire Department has three command vehicles, a support truck, and a third brush truck.
